Mr Bas Ranganathan brings together the rare combination of ENT surgical depth and facial plastic artistry. Rhinoplasty is the focus of his practice, both in his NHS and in private practice, with the majority of his surgical work dedicated to primary, revision, and complex rhinoplasty.

His philosophy is straightforward: great surgery should enhance the individual without erasing them. Results should look natural, not operated-upon. And every patient deserves to feel informed, heard, and supported at every stage.

Training & Fellowship

Clinical expertise

He treats a broad range of nasal and sinus conditions in both adults and children, with particular expertise in cosmetic and functional rhinoplasty, revision surgery, and nasal reconstruction following trauma or skin cancer excision. He leads a tertiary referral nasal reconstruction service, one of the busiest dedicated centres of its kind in the UK, and also leads the ear reconstruction service, including surgery for congenital ear anomalies such as microtia and pinnaplasty.
 
After completing his specialist ENT training, Mr Ranganathan undertook advanced fellowships in rhinology and facial plastic surgery at leading centres in London and Manchester. He also visited leading rhinoplasty centres in Portugal and Germany to further develop his surgical skills.

Academic and Teaching Contributions

Following completion of his specialist ENT training, Mr Ranganathan pursued advanced fellowship training in rhinology and facial plastic surgery in London and Manchester. He subsequently undertook international observerships in Portugal and Germany, refining his approach through exposure to contemporary European rhinoplasty techniques and complex reconstructive surgery. Drawing on this extensive training, he combines meticulous surgical planning with an individualised approach to achieve natural, balanced results while maintaining nasal function.

  • This principle guides every consultation. I take time to understand not only what a patient would like to change, but also why they would like to change it and what outcome would genuinely make a difference to them.
  • The aim is to achieve a natural and harmonious result that suits the individual, rather than an appearance that looks obviously altered. This requires careful planning, sound surgical judgement and an understanding of how the nose relates to the rest of the face.
  • Honesty is an important part of my approach. If surgery is unlikely to achieve what a patient hopes for, I will say so. I believe patients should have a clear understanding of what surgery can and cannot achieve before making a decision.
